Joy even when waiting

God calls everyone to something. First, salvation, then to some type of ministry. Hopefully, we will say yes, but that answer is followed by a time of getting made ready. This time generally involves having our distractions removed, and can be painful. Lina Abujamra shares her experience with this time in Stripped.
Answering God's call to ministry, whether a formal ministry in a church or just where you work and live is one thing, but having to go through the removal of dependence on self and creature comforts doesn't make it into the job description for most people. I have often thought that submitting to God's will brings better times. It does, but can also bring this time of removal when I must depend on God. A time that I learn that my strength is not sufficient, but that God is more than strong enough. The pain can be intense, but it is good in the end.
Stripped is meant to show how the process is good, even when it doesn't fell like it. Lina Abujamra goes through what we must have removed from our lives, and what we should do during the process. Using examples from the Bible, and stories from her personal experience, she relates what can come from this time of being stripped.
It was never dull, and was written in a way a friend would talk to you. I would recommend Stripped to anyone, regardless of where they were in their Christian walk.

Great resource for what happens next after God's call

Saying yes to God is easy, right? After all, we want to be obedient. We want to fulfill God's calling and purpose for our lives. However, soon after we nod our heads in agreement, the process of transformation begins and we start questioning God's call thinking that after we have it all figured out, the Christian life should be easy. Once we find our calling and purpose, saying yes to God will mean our life will get easier. Yeah. Right.
Lina Abujamra, author of "Stripped", learned the hard way that God doesn't always work in the way we expect or in our timeframe. Sometimes He puts us through a time of testing and preparation. In her book, she imparts the knowledge she gained from God's process so that we can be better prepared when we say yes to God.
If you have said yes to God and are wondering what happens next, you will want to read "Stripped". If you have accepted God's call on your life and wondering why life didn't all of a sudden become magical, you will definitely want to read "Stripped". If you haven't found your purpose, or are in limbo about accepting God's call, you will probably want to read "Stripped".
The best part about "Stripped" is the way it is organized. The lists such as "What keeps you from hearing God's call" and how God strips us of pride are invaluable. There are lots of lists containing gems of wisdom. I appreciate that Abujamra didn't keep her experiences to herself so we can benefit from the things she learned as she walked in obedience. I'm glad she stepped out in faith to write a roadmap to accepting the challenge of God's call on our lives.

Excellent book

Stripped will definitely empower you in your walk with God. It is a very practical book and answers some very hard questions that we all face as we seek to follow Christ. Lina's style is easy to read yet so rich in content and practical application. I've read the book twice already and it has greatly impacted my life. Thank you for your honesty and down to earth writing.
