There are great reasons why we gave him teaching awards

BIAS DISCLAIMER: This was my own professor's work.
This book is one of the holy trinity of statistical thermodynamics. There are great reasons why we gave him teaching awards. A lot of thought had gone into the lecture series, and hence this book, as to the most sensible method to *teach* the ideas of modern statistical thermodynamics as an introduction to students. By deliberately picking an obviously silly and made up function to introduce the idea of entropy, and yet deriving the correct results, this treatment makes it clear that human ignorance can be used to deduce order out of chaos. This is nothing other than a masterpiece, which is why a former student would want to buy a hard copy version to keep as memento. And just a week after the delivery came, I could use it for my students. Very handy reference, with thought also put into the organisation of content for easy access.
The book came with slight scratches, though.
