Migraine: Identify Your Triggers, Break Dependence on Medication, Take Back Your Life: An Integrative Self-Care Plan for Wellness by Sharon Murray, MS, RN is a book that you will want to read if you have migraines and keep it on the shelf for easy reference.

Sharon Murray is a nurse who was taking too much migraine medicine and that she was getting rebound headaches. She thought that she had the miracle pill prescribed by her doctor when her headache vanished. But over time her migraine problem became worse.

I have migraines too. Not often but when I get one, it lasts for three days. Migraines can make you feel hopeless and out of control, you have a terrible headache and nausea or even vomiting. I was very excited when my doctor prescribed a different migraine medicine when the headache went poof! But it came back the next morning and the morning after that

You easily tell by the looking at the references in the back of the book that she spent a lot of time researching this subject. Book is written with a genuine voice, she cares about people who have migraines and she definitely knows how they feel.

She divides this book into four parts, Western Medicine, Chinese Traditional Medicine, Integrative Therapies and Your Journey. She discussed the headaches themselves as they can be categorized, the medications and cautions with them. I know a good deal about Chinese Traditional Medicine already and she succinctly told about the theories and beliefs connection migraine treatment. Reading her book, I did learn so much about migraines and there are quite a few new things that I can try to avoid and also deal with them. This is a wonderful book for anyone who suffers from migraines.

I received this book as a win from FirstReads but that in no way influenced my thoughts or feelings in the review.

A good read.

I got this book because it was a 2013 edition. It had alot of information I did not know and was every helpful. the author had alot of problems that I have so I could relate to her . I am doing some of the things she recommends. I would recommend this book. It is not a cure all but a place to start.

SAVED MY LIFE - grateful in Palm Springs

If anyone has ever suffered migraines, you will know the pain of what I speak! Finding out the triggers that can cause them is one of the first steps in prevention versus taking hand fulls of pills, injections, and nose sprays. Even going as far as the ER for a real pain killer! Horrible experiences! I suffered since I was in my teens and then moving to the Palm Springs area 10 years ago and paying closer attention to my hydration and reading in your book the various triggers mentioned, this information has literally changed my life. I no longer have to wonder if I might get a headache and not be able to join family or friends, go to work and suffer thru the day and trying to function, laying in bed all weekend tossing and turning. Now I can make a commitment without the fear of getting a migraine keeping me from doing what I enjoy!! I can control them now- they no longer control me! Thank you Ms. Murray for this indepth, easy to understand and reliable study on Migraines and their triggers. It has made all the difference in my life and educated me in paying closer attention to my actions and triggers that caused them in my past! Thank you so much!!!
