A must read for those who seek to promote change

For those of us working on stuck and seemingly intractable social problems, whether they be local or international, it is often hard to get up in the morning with an optimistic view of the world. Adaptive Action by Glenda Eoyang and Royce Holladay provides us with a way of thinking and acting that resonates with all of my own experience, and at the same time, opens new doors. The theory, tools and methods outlined in the book are deceptively simple to understand and to apply. It has been a long time since a book has left me so energized! Halfway through reading the book, I was already emailing friends and colleagues. Now I can't wait for them to read Adaptive Action so that we can begin to discuss ways to apply it in our work.

A really effective tool / process for action

I find Adaptive Action a great sourcebook for change work. it is well written, and though some of the ideas take a bit of adapting - like the simplicity of what? so what? now what? even in the thorniest of situations, it's easy to get in the flow. I'm a practitioner, and admit to having to use the tools a few times before I felt at ease, but once you do this a couple of times it really works. I just facilitated a strategy and roadmap session with some executives and it went amazing well. The clients didn't get hung up on the process too much and instead focused on the issues and conversations that they needed and wanted to have. Also the CDE description and tool is very useful. I used that with great success to solve a thorny product development rollout issue. Adaptive Action is now my natural filter for how I view my organization and world. I'm even adapting some of it to my coaching work. In all, the real deal. Buy a bunch for your friends - they'll thank you. And hats off to Glenda and Royce, the authors, for their important contribution. I'm all for Adaptive Action!!

Great read for simple to complex issues

Reading Adaptive Action gave me a framework for thinking through and resolving any type of issue from common to complex. Using the simple tools will help me personally and professionally. The authors of this book provide a very deep and helpful website to supplement the concepts of the book. They also offer webinars which help bring the theory and concepts in the book alive. A really helpful read and great resources.
