The characters in the story were very strong and easy to like and the story line was very very interesting. Now a favorite of mine.

Not my cup of tea...

This book was a huge disappointment. You will end up knowing more about Dan D'Alesio's chest hair than desert life, archeology or journalism. You will encounter pathetic Alex Randall basically endorsing the fact that "no" means "yes". The story is built on frustrating and completely avoidable misunderstandings. The writing is below standard and clichéd. As for the narrator, is it just me or does she have a speech disorder? Sounds like she has a slight lisp, but even if not for that, a rising intonation at the end of many sentences often makes no sense and becomes distracting over time. I really struggled to finish this book.

Horrible Research and Understanding of the Culture and People She Portrays

This is one of the worst books I have read. She did not do any research and used lots of stupid stereotypes. I thought maybe she wrote this in the 1960's since the info was so out of date. It was basically a bodice ripper. Abu Dhabi is much more developed than she portrays even twenty years ago. I live in the Gulf and have a Masters in Middle Eastern studies and have lived in Egypt and Morocco. Her characterizations of the people and customs are way off base. She should stick to Florida or at least the U.S.
