Questo paper è una rielaborazione del lavoro di tesi per il corso di Laurea Specialistica in Progettazione e Gestione dei Sistemi Turistici presso l’Università degli Studi di Teramo. La ricerca non affronta solo il tema dei sistemi turistici locali (STL) e delle loro attività, ma si concentra sull’analisi delle reti sociali di questo specifico contesto, attraverso uno studio di caso (il sistema turistico “Marca Fermana“), partendo dall’assunto che un STL è uno strumento di sviluppo dal basso che coinvolge i portatori d’interesse di un determinato territorio, ed è la loro cooperazione che costituisce una rete.
I risultati evidenziano una rete fortemente centralizzata, ma nella quale sono presenti diverse clique, sottoreti nella rete, caratterizzate da vicinanza territoriale, informalità ed alta frequenza dei contatti. Il potenziale di questa ricerca sta proprio nell’aver individuato i luoghi della mediazione: i connettori che possono aiutare ad attrarre aree ed attori periferici per la ricomposizione e il consolidamento delle reti locali.
